Default Motorola MAP sensor install question

I am about to put on my turbo kit and I decided to install my Motorola MAP sensor before I put all the other stuff on...

Now it just wants to die, do I have to have it tuned to the new MAP sensor? I thought it would run the same but just more maps to compensate for going over 11 psi of boost?

Nope, retune. The 2.5bar MAP you put in sends the ecu ~3.6 volts at 11psi, but with the old tune the ecu thinks that is actually ~4psi. Same for idle, it is giving it too little fuel to run right.

you just need your tuner to adjust the map sensor settings kinda like calibrating a tps sensor you dont need a new tune

You need to set the scalar and offset and re-tune. You can't just plug it in and call it a day and expect it to run like a stock MAP sensor. I know when I pluged in my Motorola 2.5 bar, I had to re-tune. I know all my buddies who switch MAP sensors had to re-tune.

I switched to a 2.5 bar and all I had to do was reburn a chip , with my same tune. Using calibrations for a 2.5 bar instead of the stock map. No need to re-tune. Just recalibrate. Simple.

BUT... if you plan to turn up the boost, past what you were tuned at before, THEN you must tune. Only because you haven't tuned for that level of boost yet.

I put a motorola on mine and tuner said it wasnt compatible with my s200. Car would not run at all. Luckily I had a gm 3 bar
