Default Weak window frame in the DC2 doors???

Wondering if this is just my car, or if this is a reall problem in the design of our doors. I noticed these cracks in the back of the door where the window frame joins to the rest of the door. Upon closer inspection I found the problem on both sides. And yess this is a 98 ITR.

If you have the problem too, please post pictures.

I'm not positive without going outside in the rain, but I feel like I've noticed similar cracks on my 95 GS-R before. Not sure about the R. I'll have to give her a look tomorrow.

I think the seam sealer tends to crack with age. If you inspect the roof of the car, near the rear hatch glass where it meets the rain channel (i think they are called that, the black strip on either side of the roof), you will see similar cracks. At least that is what mine looks like.

This is not an area that has the seam sealant. This is a weld. As you can see in the below pictures it eventually spreads to the outer part of the door structure.

My friend took a look at his and this is what he found.

i noticed that with my 99 gsr also, the door and the roof channels near the rear hatch. it looks like it is a common problem with all the integras in this generation

'99 Gs-R - yes, and I've been sanding and coating the area in a little paint.

The other place is between the rear hatch and the roof (just behind the rubber roof rain channel thingys).

Because the window supports a whole lot of load. It would be less likely that its a problem with the window cracked and the door being closed as there's no pressure. If you look in the trunk of an Integra behind the driver side rear 1/4 plastic there's a vent that opens to the outside under the side/rear bumper, its there so the pressure can escape while closing the doors and hatch, while the windows are closed. There's more pressure when the window is up and closing the door. Think about it.

Either way the door cracks, and the roof gutters near the hatch cracking are both fairly common, seen it on plenty ITRs and non ITRs.

Thats actaully surprisingly bad - hope not too many people have this problem. Glad the 4 door integras got frameless windows for some reason...

Yea I understand what your saying, but wouldnt you say alot of the integrity of the door would be taken away if the window was cracked/open when encountering shocks while driving or shuting doors?I agree they prob designed the frame with saftey in mind but I think the actual window glass all the way up is a big part of keeping the frame and door structuraly sound while completly rolled up? Could be wrong but just makes sense to me?

There are no TSBs. I talked to a friend on the tech line and he had heard of no issues like this before. It also appears that the passenger side front weld is also cracked on my car.

I do not abuse my windows, but i dor roll the window up and down a lot and i know that that dies flex the doors as I can feel the hand cup thing move when it reaches the top of the frame. I felt the sme thing on my other 98 ITR as well.

I would just keep driving the car and not worry about it. If it gets much worse find new doors or take it to a body shop. Doesn't look that bad on the R.
