Default equivalent turbos for garrett 57 trim by BW etc...

Hi all

My friend has advised me that Borg Warner turbos are good if u are on a budget. I was looking for a turbo around the 57 trim garrett size for my stock GSR motor street/strip civic. I wanna make around 300-350whp. Whats a good BW turbo to do that with similar characteristics to the 57 trim. searched but there are lots of conflicting opinions.

Many thanks Marc

The 57 trim lower cost Borg-warners don't have the correct exhaust wheel that is used by hondas. On many occasions I've had to replace that wheel with something a bit more viable and realistic for our power goals. If you want to stay with the nicer borg-warner series that are mated to our cars, I suggest the S252 or S256 turbochargers. They are a little more expensive than the Garrett, but they are nice. Otherwise, for the smaller than 300whp or 200whp, the Garrett 57 trim can work well enough.

Cheers, il look into the S252 and S256 then. I will maybe forge it in the future so il look at the S256 as i pressume thats a higher output unit and would be better for me in the long run. Marc

meh, I guess it is a matter of opinion and what type of powerband you are looking for. I have a BW 57 trim with the 76 exh wheel on my 8.5:1 B16 and love it. I get full boost at 4000 so it feels like a n/a car when you are cruising, and you get a good kick in the pants when you enter the 4000+ rpm range!

Not to say I am disagreeing with Shodan, I know there are better performing turbos but it works for me just fine.
