Recently completing my lsvtec one of the coolant lines is giving me an hard time. After some searching i found out that the thermostat case is different from the case on an gsr it's missing the nipple that accepts the hose from the ....water outlet cover ( relate to photo number one).... so after some head scratching i ran out an grabbed me a tee fitting to tie in this hose which has no home, (relate to photo two) problem here is that under power the water outlet hose releases way to much coolant and im worried it may screw with my idle or such. or should i order an gsr thermostat case (ive never heard of any one doing this mention swaping over there thermostat case lol help me plz

 

could you just cap it off?

 

i don't thinks so, i did a quick test and left the hose loose while the car warmed up and while giving it gas it surges out like crazy (coolant) but i don't think a cap would hold

 

a cap should hold with a clamp...it only sees 15-16psi. does the ls waterneck bolt up by chance?

 

i don't think so, i had to order the gsr one but i'll try to clamp it off tomorrow and see if it holds

 

I had that same hose teed between the TB and IM line with a brass Tee....never leaked under high pressure or heat, even @ 10psi boost. Yours doesnt seem to have the same barb coming off your IM, so I'm guessing you have an OBD2 motor.

IDK to be honest, but that's how mine worked.

 

boost should not have any effect on coolant pressure. if it does, you have problems.

 

isn't that hose supposed to go to the fitv?

 

I know....By saying that, I was implying that I drive my car harder than most people drive their DD's....and if my Tee held up under constant high rpms and temps, his should too.

Maybe I should have just said on my "race car" it held up just fine.
