Question about adding a custom subwoofer without replacing the OEM deck
I have an '06 Honda CR-V and have recently added a Kicker 12" sub and a Directed Audio D600 amplifier. However, there is a problem with the remote turn-on line for the amplifier.
I currently have the remote turn-on wire from the amp hot-wired into the ignition so that the amp will turn on when the radio gets power after the engine starts but this does not actually turn on the amp.
Is there some hidden remote turn-on port on the back of my OEM deck that I can't use unless I get some harnesses or do I need to get an aftermarket deck?

ok,so youre saying that you got power, ground, and the remote you got it from a switched power source, right. ?
if the amp still doesnt turn on, first check if the amp its getting power, if it is, check the fuses on the amp...
if everything its getting power and still doesnt turn on, your amp. may have a internal problem..

Thx. Here's another factor I hadn't considered when i posted that: It's summer down here in Arkansas and the inside of my car gets beastly hot during the day (I park it outside...). Could the overheating safety shut off on the amp be the "internal problem" you referred to?
I guess the aftermarket deck wouldn't be necessary...maybe.

the amp will only go into protect mode if it is the wrong amp forthe job or it's broken, but then it usually wont come back out of protect mode.
Ok...I did get it to come on once today...scared the living daylights out of my 58-year old mother...lol! I'll try various things and let you know what happens. I'm pretty sure the amp is okay as it used to be my brother's before he gave it to me...
Here's another question: Is there a harness for my OEM deck that has a remote turn-on wire on it and if so, where can I get it?

just check, the light blue wire in the deck harness, i believe it is the factory amp, turn on, you may need to add a relay for safety...
no actually that info is wrong. No relay needed and it is his oem wire so you need to know what the acc turn on wire is stock.
behind the radio it is the yellow/green wire or the yellow/red wire (oem colour)
under the dash at the ignition it is black/red.

he is trying to turn on the amp, with the factory turn on,,,
not just grab it from the ignition or acc....!!!!!

I said at the ignition is the acc. You need an acc to turn on the amp, what the hell is the problem. The blue/white wire on an aftermarket radio is the same thing as the red wire, it is an acc turn on, so this can be taken from the factory wires behind the in dash, or at the ignition.
you my friend are an idiot and should never give stereo advice. illegal is right about the wire colors and where to catch them from. as long as he has a power source that cuts on with the key turned on, then thats all he needs. the factory radio has no remote wire cause the factory radio has no need to turn an amp on. the ignition wire behind the radio (red on aftermarket radios) does the same as the blue/whte on aftermarket radios. it gets power when the key is turned, same as the wires at the ignition harness. benefits to going behind the radio is incase he adds an aftermarket radio later, his wire is already there. if stock is suited to him, the ignition harness is closer to and easier to get to.
Megameet and blackskunk are right.
There is no amp for this deck which brings me to another question. Would the audio outs for the rear speakers possibly be too high a voltage to the amp inputs (Directed Audio D600)?

you should watch your mouth, at no moment i offended no one, why should i get offended????

i cant watch my mouth, my nose is in the way. you were trying to be smart to illegal instead of answering the guys question correctly. thats the problem with internet forums, guys post answers without any real knowledge of the issues. i dont post on things like motor swaps cause i dont know. you dont see me posting and giving answers cause i know better.
Well, I got a new Pioneer deck, wire harness, and dash kit for my car now. Put it all together and it looks nice. Now the problem is that I have fried my amp and am getting it repaired. thx to everybody for your help and for giving me the laughs at your argument. "

The person you are calling an idiot is correct. Pin 1 from the Radio is the amp/ant turn. Just add a wire to the connector and you have a factory turn on. While the ouput can drive a couple amplifiers, Honda uses a relay when using multiple amplifiers on this wire.
