Icon2 Need experts: Acura NSX wheels have spline inserts in each bolt hole?

Well I have a 2002+ nsx wheel that was getting refinished in white.

The repair/paint shop calls and advises me the wheel I have is "MISSING" the metal spline inserts that go into each of the 5 bolt holes on the wheel. They say the wheel is UnSAFE to use without these spline inserts.

I will snap a picture later tonight but each of these splines are hard-pressed into the wheel's bolt holes to re-inforce each of the bolt holes?

The guy says there is no reason to remove these unless you were going to chrome the wheel and mine are missing

My question is where can I buy these or what other model Honda/Acura wheels use these metal splines so I can buy a old wheel and press out these splines to use in my wheel???

any advice appreciated!

TIA

so you dont see a ball seated insert in there ? i linked it right to you. the pics on the site show the side view of the insert.

(just an example pic) a machine shop should have a press to press these into your wheel's lug holes area.

i believe all acura/honda oem lug nuts are ball seats. im not sure about the specs either since i've never had to replace or measure such a thing.

careful. these guys may try to pull that $50 minimum order on you. i have actually dealt w/ them in person and paid cash but never ordered from them online.

i believe this may be it since the studs on a honda are 12mm's(about .5 inch) in width. the opening on the bottom of the insert is .52 of an inch. and the height of the insert is smaller than the mercedes one due to most euro cars having a bigger(thicker) hub region.

I've been on the phone extensively with these guys at Prestige and apparently the ones I need have been discontinued....argh!

My question are these splines the same for most Acura wheels or perhaps Honda s2000 wheels? It's probably easier just to buy an old wheel from Honda and pull these metal inserts out of that wheel.

Ideas guys?

hey so Honda studs are 12mm diameter, NOT 14mm?

most honda alloy wheels have them so i suppose you can find a beat up one somewhere and see if they fit.

maybe try and see if there is a conical (60deg) insert that is close in dimensions to stock inserts and just use conical lug nuts and locks.
