Default block damage

i got an issue here. the mains on the block and caps have some wear on it from breaking a crankshaft. some are okay and some are pretty deep.

i sent my block out to laskey and they said that it's going to cost around $600-$700 plus new main caps because they well to make new tangs for the align hone. the crank is going to move up .015-.020 so i will have to get a thicker headgasket and file the dowel pins on the oil pump main seal. they said if i provide a new block, they can sleeve it for $900.
i was wondering if there's shop out there that can weld some material on the damage then align hone it. what do you guys think is my best option now?

I don't understand why you don't just get another block. That thing is trashed. Why spend all that money when you can just get another core for cheap and have it sleeved.

So you're going to weld them up yourself?

What is the welding/fabrication related content?

I agree just bin it and get a new core.

Life is way too short to bother dicking around with stuff like that, it ain't the original block from your '69 roadrunner.

WHY? Why waste money repairing this block? You've been quoted prices and it appears the cost of repair is not in your best interest. Buying a new core for a few hundred bucks and having it sleeved is your best bet. Oh and I advise you to use a stock crank. I assume you used an Eagle or like since it broke...

the price difference assuming the same work is done to both blocks is maybe 300 bucks for a new core so why risk thousands of dollars on parts and time for a measly 300 bucks.Get a new core.

Straight up, it's not worth the risk and the hassle. Just get a new block, and call it a day

unlike everyone else here, I think you should keep it, and fix it, why buy another core who knows whats wrong with that one, look at what you have you know how ****ed it is and what you have to look forward to

bc even after u repair the block, ur still not sure that its as relaibale as a stocker.Dont waste ur time or money on some repair that might work out.I know if laskey does it it will be fine but otherwise, why risk it?

Use a stock crank and u wont have this probleme.
