On that old of a car, the clutch has been changed at least once so the clutch probably isn't stock. The pressure of the clutch pedal (when there are no air bubbles in the clutch line) depends on the pressure plate. The harder the pressure plate, the harder your clutch pedal feels when you use it. So they either didn't change the old pressure plate and it's now sloppy, or they put a soft pressure plate in.

so its really a matter of the pressure plate itself that might be it? so if i were to order one i would ask for the clutch disk right? or is it called something else?

If you want to replace the pressure plate you ask for a pressure plate. If you want to replace the clutch itself, you ask for a clutch disk. Or you can buy clutch kit which usually comes with pressure plate, clutch disk, clutch installation tool, and two bearings (input shaft bearing and throw out bearing). If you want your clutch to be stiffer you get a pressure plate with more clamping force than stock or whatever is installed in your car right now.
