Is it okay for me to turn up the boost?
This is kind of a noob question. I had my car tuned at only 5.8psi and I started to look at how to tune on Crome recently. I noticed on setups that are using the stock map, the vac/bst column goes up to 11.2psi. Now when my car was tuned on Crome, do you think it was tuned only up to 5.8psi? Is there some kind of pattern that takes place that would have continued up to 11.2psi? I'm asking because I wanted to know if it would be safe to turn my boost up to like 8psi. Obviously, even if there was a pattern, then the tune above 5.8psi wouldn't be as accurate as it is up to 5.8psi. Thanks for the help guys. I'm expecting to see a lot of "no don't turn up the psi." Please no flaming. I'm trying to put it all together.
not a good idea unless you know what you're doing. unless the tuner tuned it at 11.2 psi, nobody knows what the values are there. monitor a/f and have someone that tunes look at your ignition map at the 11.2 psi column before proceeding.
If you're considering increasing the boost you should consider your applications. If you use a boost controller on a daily driver and can easily adjust your settings you will probably have fewer problems than if you just run 12 psi daily. Your tune is also crucial. Have somebody that knows what they are doing check it out whatever you do.
Not a good idea. U can quickly detonate and destroy that motor if you turn up the boost untuned. Boosting to 8psi might not sound like bunch. But your timing can be way off afr also since more airflow is being introduced into the motor. More air+high timing+higher boost+5.8 psi tuned fuel map is a ticket to knock city.
ya i figured i was going to get these answers, but I thought i'd double check just in case. It's times like these i wish i could persuade myself to just buy the hardware to tune myself.
Its not impossible to tune a car, those no wizard black magic behind. Just do research man. Www.pgmfi.org is a great source. Possibly the best on the internet for tuning honas.

ya that's where i've been looking. but based one what i've read, after the 5.8psi, Crome does not have a pattern that continues to 11.2psi even though Crome shows the values up to 11.2psi automatically when you tune the stock Honda MAP, correct?

get a wideband, add alot of fuel, then slowly start to pull fuel out of it to trim it up to around 11.5:1 afr, retard 1 degree or slightly more for every psi to be on the safe side, learn to read plugs, give the motor what it wants, not that hard just make sure you understand everything completely and what effects it has, tuning is not one of those user friendly things if you just put in random values without the knowledge of what it does if you catch my drift, if you understand about tuning and what exactly your doing its simple.
I was reading the xenocron DIY for beginners intro to tuning and they were saying they pull 1.25 degrees to have a conservative and safe tune for every psi. Right now, i'm going through the injector battery offset and the offset in the fuel mulitplier.
Haha I think he gladly would have if I came with a mbc. I wish I showed up prepared that day lol...or knew that they sold hallmans cuz I prob would have shelled out the dough that day. But I was going through Crome and noticed one of the plugins has a "max psi" setting so i'm guessing he set that to 5.8 when he tuned. But if I see him this summer, I'll tell him you said hi, Chris!
This is probably something I should search before I ask, but I heard the AEM UEGO's datalogging sucked. Is that true? That's what i have for my wb02
