Default Can't do the compression test right ... ************

Do I use the 14mm long reach adapter? It says it's for 14mm long reach plugs only. I can't get any readings on the gauge.

Does the car have to be warm, first? My car kind of has a fugged up idle and ****.

What are the stock numbers for a stock block D16Y8?

I must have missed something....what adapter?? I always just pull the plugs, pull the 15A fuse(top left) in the underhood fusebox and push the clutch and gas all the way in, and wind it over about 7 or 8 times. Maybe you have a different kind of gauge or something, but the one that I have just screws right into the spark plug hole.

Screw clutches... Who needs them when you have a torque converter?

Well, I do the test and once I do it a couple times, the car starts not wanting to crank. Do I just wait and do more later? or what?

So far so good.....

Yup u can do that or unclip the distributor...either works fine. And what adapter? Do u mean what replaces the spark plug?
Not unless you want to inject fuel in the cylinders -- which you don't.

The car should go...waaa..waa..waaa....waaa...waaa...waaa... Let it "waaa" about 7 or 8 times...each time the gauge will pump up. I believe the first one or two should shoot it up the most if it is a healthy motor. Dont quote that one tho...

What should I check? The battery seems fine to me. If it wasn't connected, then the car wouldn't do anything. This is so gay, I need to do the 4th cylinder then I can cry or rejoice. Arghh!

It'll crank for a sec and then stop. Then the starter just goes tick tick tick, etc...hmmm, maybe it is the battery?!

My numbers so far are:

1: 185
2: 185
3: 185
4: 170 <====== (This was when the car was not cranking right though, so I want to re-do her)

Stock block D16Y8, looks good?

How did you check your batt? How do you know it is still good? Check for water in the batt to see if it's low.

My compression numbres are 200-220 across the board on my turbo D16Y8, and my headgasket is leaking(coolant gets displaced).

Uh, mine are consistent so it's not bad, right? RIGHT?!

My car is not starting. I can hear the starter ticking, but the car doesn't start. Is that a bad battery? All my lighting still works tho...

185 is perfect. I get something like 190-185-180-190 in mine. 220psi is WAY high on a stock D16Y8!

Yep. Your battery is dead. Either that or your generator. Thats what went bad on my Dad's Saturn.

I was getting 225 across the board on my old 130k mile D15B2 engine.

Oh yeah, it did have a Y8 head and gasket on it with the cam advanced 2 degrees
