i just finish a swap i have a code 6 water temp sensor . i follow the troubleshooting diagnostics . there is no shorts or opens on the wires, i checked the inside harness and found one the wires cut. i repaired it. reset the computer and still have the code 6. i tested the harness from the tw sensor all the way to the ecu plug and there is no resistance which means the harness is good. i bought a bunch of tw sensor on the junkyard just for testing and i dont know if is coincidence but i replace it with another one like 3 times and suppostly they are all bad because still have the engine light on. i also have an extra ecu. tested and still have the same problem.i know you guys are going to be like buy a new one. but is there any other way to test it. also when i reset the computer and put it back in , when i turn the ign swith on it gives me that code right away. without starting the motor . to me thats like when something is unplug.
so if you can help me solve this mistery please let me know some tips.

What kind of swap, car, trim level? The sensor may be bad, like you said. They are only like 20-30 bucks for a new one. Since you tried 3 other ones, you may have a wire broke somewhere, like the one you found. How did you fix the one you found?
i'm confused as to what you did when you say you tested it.. the red/white wire should have continuity to the wire located at C6 on the ecu. if it does not, then you've got a break in the wire.
on mine, one of the wires in the plug was corroded and was broken but i couldnt tell because it was inside the plug. i ended up repinning it and worked fine after that.
check your female plug to see if the wires are still intact really good. when you start your car does the code turn on right away. or does your car warm up first then light turns on.. when i had code 6 problem.... it warm up then check engine light pop up. all i did was, got a new tw sensor and it work perfect. for you maybe a break or wiring issue...GOOD LUCK
i had a similar problem with my hatch when it was reading hot, sometimes the sensor goes bad and you have to get another one. a way to test it is if you take out the sensor, plug the spot in the head, and turn the car on. get some boiling water bowl and put the edge (read side) of the sensor into the boiling water, have a buddy do that and you look on the cluster for the needle to go on hot. if theres nothing, replace the sensor
sounds like a ghetto way of figuring out the issue but it actualy works. just my .o2
