Prelude SH shock/spring install
I am changing my shocks this weekend and wanted to know if I needed anything else.
What I have:
1.) KYB AGX shocks
2.)Tein S-tech springs
3.) Pitman ball joint puller
4.) Jack, jack stands
5.) All other necessary tools (17mm, 14mm, etc)
Anything else important that I might be missing? I just want to make sure because I know the SH model is not as simple as the base with regards to getting the radius rods joints out of the way. As for the upper ball joints, do those need to be taken out as well? and as for the rears, those should be straight forward. Correct me on anything I missed or got wrong.
If anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.

Do you have a helms?
You'll need a spring compressor, at least for assembly.
Install the shock fork bolt in the opposite direction so you don't have to disconnect the radius arm ball joint next time.
Rear uca joint balljoint will have to be disconnected.
Tighten the all bolts (esp shock fork) with the suspension raised to ride height.

When you are removing the ball joint on the radius rod, remember to protect the ball joint thread when using the pitman puller. I forgot to do that and end up damaging it.
here's a useful link. it's for a base so there's an extra step with the radius rod but everything else is the same.

As for the spring compressor, my friend and I found a way to take off the spring without the compressor. We would put 2 tires in between the spring/shock and let it pop. We've done it 2 times already and its worked fine.
What do you mean by suspension raised to ride height? With the car on jackstands in the air?
I don't use a spring compressor for disassembly either, put them between two wheels (w/ tires). You'll need it for assembly though. If you don't, I'd love to hear how you're doing it.
With the car on jackstands, put the jack under the lower control arm and raise the suspension to about where it'd be if the car was on the ground.

I figured the springs would sit properly on the shock and wouldnt need to get compressed? At least with the 240sx and the camry a friend and I worked we didnt have to compress the springs.
I guess the prelude is that more complicated.

My H&R springs didn't need a spring compressor to go on. I just had someone hold them down a little while I put the nut on. S Techs shouldn't be too bad

As for putting the the ball joints back in...you just simply snap them back in? This is my first working on this suspension. I just want to make sure I have everything I need. Im sure its going to take us a few hrs?
