installing shocks, need help[
Ok, I am about to install some KYB AGX's on a 1.8" drop. Is there anything I need to worry about? Or is this basically just put the springs on the shocks, put the shocks in the car? Thanks
doesnt KYB void your warranty if its lowered more than 1.5"? or was that Tokico blues I forget.... anyway as for the install bolt off the old spring/shock then compress the spring, use a hex key to hold the middle shock rod while turning the top nut (w/ spring compressed) i think the top nut is 14 mm and the hex key is something like 5mm? (this is all from memory) then unbolt the top cap, uncompress and remove the stock spring, and take out all the washers, bushings, dust boot, etc.. noting their order so u can re-apply them on the KYBs.. and then put the lowering springs on the KYB shocks and follow the diagram/instructions that KYB supplied.. You'll need to re-use some parts like the bump stop, dustboot, ID spindle, bushings, top shock cap, etc... and KYB supplies the top nut and a collar... installations pretty much the same as my Koni's..except Koni supplied new ID sleeves/spindles, washers, etc..
Excellent. Thanks a lot. And yes, KYB voids the warranty if the drop is more than 1.3", but this car isn't going to stick around for more than 4 years and I feel confident they will last at least that long (seeing as 1.3" or less is a lifetime warranty).
Do I have to cut the bump stop at all or keep it whole? This install doesn't seem too difficult... If you can install springs on your own, you can install shocks (or so it would seem...).
