I have a B16A that I want to get rebuilt.

I have also been thinking about a B18C swap instead.

However, then I had another thought. What if during the rebuild, I switched to a B18C block and crank? Then wouldn't I basically have a B18C engine (except for the B16 head)?

Or are the B18C pistons and rods also different?

 

just get the complete b18c swap

 

i dont know to much about what pistons go with what blocks but you will prolly run into valve clearance issues. plus you could just buy a b18 block for about $150 and throw that b16 head on top.

 

ls/vtec with p30's maybe? that sounds like the best bang for the buck.

 

I did some research on my own. The pistons are the same. The rods are different. So once I get a B18C block, crank, and rods, then I can put the B16 head on it. Then I have a B18C more or less.

Or am I missing something?

I'm not sure if the stock pistons are the same. Wiseco lists the same pistons for the B16A and B18C , so they can't be much different.

I will probably end up getting a B18C short or long block unless I can get a deal on a B18C block and crank. Then I would go with forged pistons and rods.
