Honing and Boring Question
If my block cylinder walls looks clean and isnt scratch or anything. Do I still need to hone it? I mean for security purposes I should. Also I read a thread here on HT that I should also Bore it out .25 over 81mm. BTW, this is a B18c1
take it to a shop and have them test it.
you may not need to.
the shop is going to be able to tell you if you need to and how far you will need to go.
they may look good with no scratchs or anything, but the cylinder should be a perfect circle and it may or may not be now.

depends on how many miles and how the motor was treated over those miles. i know motors with 250k miles and just needed new rings. there is a tool you can buy along with specs you need to follow to measure each cylinder to see if you need to get it bored over. honing is a requirement to seat new rings no matter what.
