90 civic ef

hard to start in the morning or when it sits there for a while ....but after it turns on everything runs fine !!! need help thanks

 

What do you mean it's hard to start? Like the motor turns over slowly or does the starter just click? or the car turns over but just doesnt start up?

 

I mean its starts and all but like its chokes and cough to start ...

 

Any CELs? Done a tune up recently or even checked to make sure the cap and rotor is still in good condition.

 

No cel when i start car but after a while of drive and car and motor is hot the lights comes on...tune up is okay new spark plug oil change new fuel filter fixed fuel evap...main relay is fine ...maybe the ignator ?? or starter ?

 

Which lights come on?

 

some times my car clicks like the clutch signal isnt all the way pushed in but meh, what do i know

 

Check engine light !

 

Check the code and check your hot and cold compression. Might not be making much compression cold.

 

ecu is only throwing code 23 thats knock sensor!!?...and how do i check my hot and cold compression ?

 

Code 23 is the knock sensor.

Get a compression tester, and test the engine when it's cold and when it's "hot" (warmed up).

 

i'm having a similar problem also and was wondering if ignition timing being off cold cause the car to have a hard time firing up?

 

im getttin different answer from other ppl....its the ignitor... i have fuel problem blah blah all that ...

 

just out of curiosity, which engine and ecu do you have?

at first i thought you had an obd0 setup, but after seeing code 23 come up i'm guessing your running obd1?

 

d15b ..its an odb1 motor but it has odb0 harness..with pr3 b16 ecu

Well, there's your answer. It's hard to start because you're running untuned and dumping in 1.6L worth of startup fuel plus cold-cranking enrichments and you're only running a 1.5L.

Try cracking the throttle a little bit next time you start it cold (maybe 5%), it'll probably start more easily.

 

and car eats gas like crazyy LOL i think its the b16 ECU that why idkk
