Will vtec engage with IACV Code 14?
open the windows, find a tunnel and crack it open in 2nd gear and listen for a change of sound.
(i do it often, just keeping everything working like it should... something like daily routine maitence)

I dont have to be in a tunnel to hear my vtec engage... never have even after I cut the crappy ghetto exhaust off my car that came with it FAT PIPE... I am running a 05 oem honda exhaust that was customized... wonder if that has anything to do with it...
also had a vaccum line of that was tripping all kinds of CEL's IACV was one of them but I still got vtec to engage... wonder why...

What proof do you have? As the others have said, as well as my personal experience, my VTEC still engaged with a couple CEL's.
But yes. As the above stated, just get it fixed then you got nothin to worry about. If you can't hear it or feel it anyways, then who really cares?

vtec isnt suppoesed to engauge with cels.
its the motors way of keeping it self safe.
i have been told by many people including master honda techs.
it may engauge but i dont think its supposed to.

yes vtec will engage even with a CEL so long as its not one that pertains to it like VSS etc. if its not supposed to engage with the CEL go tell that to my car i have 2 for the evap purge solenoid and for catalyst below efficiency threshhold and vtec still functions.
not true.
VTEC will not engage in CELs that cause limp mode, or affect the vtec system. My gsr swap throws a persistent CEL from the immobilizer being removed, but drives 100% the same regardless of whether or not I clear the CEL. I've gotten used to clearing it with my scantool when I start the car cause the light's annoying, but it drives 100% the same and *definitely* hits vtec regardless.
Yes, it will engage with a 14, although depending on how bad your code 14 condition is, the car may not run quite right.
