Help removing AC belt - Having trouble with left torque mount
Got the PS belt off and the alternator belt off it's pulley, but obviously I can't remove it until the AC one comes off. What I'm having trouble with is the mount(I believe that's what it is). The U shaped thing with the 2(14mm) bolts on it. I got one bolt off, but the other won't come out. It spins, but it isn't moving any further. Car is a 2000 Si. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
hey dude i just changed my belts out the other day. you need to remove the engine mount which is shaped like a half moon. there are 2 14mm bolts holding it in position. and one 19mm nut holding the shaft. you need to remove all of it and squeeze the engine mount out of its position. this part takes force.
I got the 19mm and one of the 14mms out, but the other isn't moving any further. I thought I bent it, but I shined a light in there and it's still straight. I have no idea why it isn't moving anymore. Once its done, sometime in the next few weeks, I'll buy another mount because this one looks worn.
turns out there's a nut on the bolt INSIDE where the end of the threading sits for the mount. How the hell am I supposed to get this thing off? There's no way for me to access it
just cut the belt...thats what i did...i just hope your girlfriend doesnt complain about how hot it is like mine does lmao! did you actually see a nut in there? mine is just threaded..no nut... thats odd..
you dont need to get the mount off if youre removing the alt belt... i didnt, mines a 99 si, i just cut the AC belt because it was blocking all the other belts and alt and PS belt come off no problem, i dont know what honda was smoking when they put an AC belt running around a mount.... DUUUUUH.

Ok. I see what you're getting at. I double checked the routing. It'll work. I'm bringing the car to the shop to get the TB replaced, I guess I'll tell them to fix whatever is wrong with that mount. They'll need to get the belts off. Thanks for the info.
It's easy, just undo the nut on the shaft running through the rubber mount and unbolt the mount from the chassis. PITA and a freaking retarded thing to do on Honda's behalf, but whatever.
I just ran into the same thing. It seems as though the only way to get to the nuts on the inside it to open up the frame. I'm going to attempt what you suggested. What a goofy design.
Yeah, the weld breaks, it does this frequently enough that unless I actually plan on replacing that mount that I unbolt the A/C compressor from the bracket, then unbolt the bracket from the block and remove the 19mm nut and leave the torque mount attached. Those nuts almost always break loose inside the frame rail.
