Default help on headgasket

Ok so my car had been getting alil to hot sometimes so I thought maybe it could be the headgasket so I went ahead a bought a new one along with a new thermostat then I started thinking and thought it may could have been the radiator cap so I bought a new one and wow that fixed it. Hasnt been over heating anymore. Should have seen the old one tho was missing the whole middle part almost. anyways, I am still going to do the headgasket and I was wondering if anybody had the tq specs for arp studs and what pattern to go. Also anything else that I should know before going into it. I am plannin on taking my whole coolin system off and cleaning it out.

Removal

Install

Step 1......15ft lbs
Step 2......30ft lbs
Step 3......62ft lbs

Make sure you dont go over 62ft/lbs, although you will see people tellin you 70ft/lbs is ok i'd recommend just sticking with what ARP puts in their instructions...

Ya, all aftermarket bolts have their own torque specs. Look to your instruction to find exact ratings.

thanks guys....and the reason I am gonna replace my headgasket even if I dont think it needs it is just for safety. It had overheated a few times so I would rather go ahead and replace it so I dont have to worry about it. Plus I already bought it ha

You could do a leakdown and compression check and that will tell you exactly what state your motor is in.

9 outta 10 times this is true... but some of us have that bad luck bloodline of a honda that likes to be rebellious when it comes time for diagnostic...

Yea Im planning on doing that sometime but its runnin fine right now. It gets alil hot sometimes during the day mainly cuz I live in the desert and its friggin hot here ha and Im running on a stock radiator so next paycheck here comes a fluidyne sp? but yea you think it would be better to run a full size one and just mount the fan on the outside? Its no room to stick one on the inside with the turbo
