you don't need new pistons... but those pistons look stock if your going to spend the money to resleeve it you mine as well get a set of piston and rods to go along with it so it last...usually sleeves don't crack out of nowhere...hows the tune? and hows your timing? how much boost are you running and whats your motor setup

Just throw another stock shortblock in there, and send yours out for a full build? Def check your tune

Its a Bone stock b18b1 with 186k miles haha. The turbo setup is a garrett to4e 57 trim , 2.5" dp, evo intercooler, rc 440cc injectors and a xenocron map sensor. I was tuning it myself with crome and freelog... Heres my fuel/timing maps...

timing

fuel

my friend has another block for $75... good deal?

Im trying to do low cost, so far the car and turbo setup is less than $3k. So I don't think i'll get it sleeved, that's like almost a grand... Maybe I'll get some used forged pistons somewhere, or just keep the boost at like 13... haha

What's the crome timing fix? I don't think i did that...

When it happened I was tuning for 15-16 psi. I'm not exactly sure why it blew, a series of things happened, I dont really know which was first... here's what all needed fixed afterwards... The radiator had a leak in (I'm guessing that was after), my water bypass hose blew up (also probably after), and then my water intake hose popped off (also guessing after the head wall blew). The headgasket was cracked in the cylinder that the wall broke, so this probably was the initial reason for everything. I don't know why it blew up at only 16 psi. I did boost 20+ psi before but it was only for very short instances and it never had any problems (didn't have much power either though)... My tuning was just getting good (solid afrs and pulling really good) when it blew so maybe i just pushed it too much... idk

seems like a lot of boost for pump gas and stock motor, with what sounds to be a learning tuner.

At that level, i'd expect the rod bolts to let loose before the sleeves. (just reread t4oe)

Or at least the ringlands well before sleeves.

Your exhaust valve relief looks cracked in that pic? A lot of times you will get rust on the rings as well when the pistons look like that and you let it sit. Most of the time too there will be scoring on the piston where the crack on the sleeve is. Good luck with it.
