f22 question
alright i got a f22a6 engine in my 92 accord. the guy i got it off of said it was a jdm motor but im not sure. i dont know accords. is this a reliable engine? and with 115k miles is it worth keeping or should i do a swap asap?
not a jdm motor. the F22A is a JDM motor but the F22A6 is not. a 92 w/ 115k miles aint too bad but since you didnt do the driving of those miles you cant trust it. get a JDM F22B dohc swap like me.
Keep in mind that the F22a6's head flows are alot better than F22A1, & F22B2 non vtec. I saw somewhere that the crank hp was at 140 on the a6. Turbo it and You'd be str8 up menace.
The F22A6 is pretty much the best F series SOHC platform to start from for ether forced induction or All motor. Due to the flow characteristics of the head it makes it a good start for all motor. Then with the 8.8:1 CR and iron sleeves it's a good place to start for a mild boost setup.
IMO I would keep the A6 and build on it. Make sure you have a goal in mind before you start ripping and tearing. What your going to use the car for is the fist thing you want to consider. Then whether or not you choose to go forced induction or All motor. Beside that you should have a budget and make a list of what costs will be incurred for each part you want to add.
