Default how to identify JDM engine?

How do you tell if what you paid for is in fact a JDM motor? I really dont care i just think the shop i had replace my motor is full of **** . It started about 1.5 months ago , i went to a shop that specializes in japenese engines and trannys , and they said for 1600 they could buy and install a LOW MILE b18 into my car with a one year warranty. Well i got it back then the head gasket failed. they had the head resurfaced and isntalled a new headgasket. Shortly after it started eating oil and smoking extremely bad, then blew up. In the End they rebuilt the whole engine and made it right , and started my 1 year warranty over to the day i got it back. My question is how do you identify if its a JDM motor , because i think at first they just threw in a usdm high mileage pieace of **** into my car and prayed for the best. The car has also almost 2k miles on it now and i couldnt be more satisfied , I just want to know if its a true JDM motor , the code is b18a1

It's not a jdm motor... because it has a "1" after the b18a.... If it's jdm, it would simply be "B18A." And that goes for all the JDM honda motors. You just got a usdm 90-93 motor that probably had 865069809865988095 miles on it.

right on the money with that one. I have the USDM B18A1 motor, if it was truely a JDM motor it would have writen as B18A on the block, I think that the JDM land didnt have a B18A they had a DOHC VTEC B16A motor installed in the DA teg's. correct me if im wrong on that part.

thanks for the info. That Does make about the fact it would simply just be b18a if it was a jdm motor. I remember when i had my 92 hatch , with a b16 , it just said b16 , and when i had a h22 swapped into my old 92 lude it just said h22a

question, if you had so many problems with that company and their motor why not just return the thing and get your money back? and go somewhere else for a better real JDM motor?

It was already installed, and it had a warranty. In the end i paid 1600 and ended up getting a new motor with 0 miles. Havent had any proplems since, and the guy felt so bad for all the trouble he is installing a tranny for me for free when i find one. He made it right i was just pissed for a while there.
