there have been few debates on this topic. and i myself have asked the same question.... well everyone says the short ram is better because the blower does not have to work as hard to suck in air.... but the jrsc intake temps become very hot. i personally run the CAI cause in my opinon i want the coolest air possible and besides you will pick up a lil more top end pull. i have had both and left it with the cold air but to each his own... ya know

I ran my best times on the 1320 with the K&N filter stuck directly onto the T/B. CAI or S/R, by the time the rotors of the blower get to a certain RPM the air gets beaten hard enough that the intake temps are going to skyrocket regardless. Having the blower ported (as mine was) does help some (but it only slows down) the climbing of the intake temps. Run it back to back 2-3 times and it will be hot enough to fry an egg on the intake manifold.
Just stick the filter on the T/B and give it a try.

I use a Comptech Icebox. It would be nice to run the Mugen, but some people in the JRSC thread run custom boxes.

i had a stock intake with K&N filter at first on my JRSC. ran ok

then upgraded to a Samco tube with BPI velocity stack setup and saw a big big difference.

True.^^^^^^

It's been a while but I believe it was John I talked to at LHT. Ask him what happens if you try spinning an Eaton blower past 19,500 RPM's. KABUKKI!!!

I am running a Mugen intake now.
I read on the JRSC thread that the blower likes unrestrictive intakes (filter exposed). The Mugen the closed in type....

True, but the Mugen has the largest duct ever, especially compared to my Comptech. Mugen/Comptech is the compromise of both shortram/coldair but yours is much better.
