Default b18c1 b16a3 turbo?

I have a 4 door teg with a poor mans type r, all the interals are stock and i was wondering if boosting it would be a bad idea. Everyone Ive talked to and all the fourms Ive read it seems to be 50/50. Just want to see your guys thoughts on the matter. Also the motor was just put together a few months ago and has roughly 6-7k. thanks

I'm not sure what your static compression is, but that may be a limiting factor for your power goals depending on fuel choice. The rule generally is, 300whp on a stock block is fine as long as you get a good tune and use the proper fuel (usually sub 93 oct pump). If your compression is higher, you may have to either run a higher octane fuel or cut back your power goals to something lower than 300whp.

Basically, yes you can do it; however, there are some limiting factors to consider

Slowmotion is ok, I would also speak with Keith over at Pure-Tuning in Toledo. They have been tuning the hondas we have built for over 5 years,(them being in business for 10 years) using both stock engine and built engine specifications. A complete list is available on what is needed to ensure that things are safe.

Schister66 was not talking about the actual compression test (which is still a good idea, but is specifically referring to the actual static compression of the build is. that is important in terms of fuel use. I ALWAYS recommend 93 octane if possible. You're in Ohio, so you have a lot of options.

PM me with questions regarding turbocharger build, budget, materials and ideas. The one thing you don't want to do is commit to power levels and desires of other people that may not be thinking of YOUR needs.

For example, Many shops and planners look at a car and go, "oh, you want a 35R. Done.!!" when you have no idea if that is the TYPE of power that you're looking for, that may be extremely over budget and just too big for what you're looking for. Doing the right build is like a psychiatry session; we as specialists want to know about you and your needs before giving any true recommendations for your build. This saves you time, money (to make sure you get the good parts), and you actually get what you want
