Default switch problem: panel and rear running lights n

I have a 92 civic DX - When I turn on my head lights, the dash panel lights and the rear running lights go out. It seems to occur between the toggle from driving lights to headlights. The headlights, turn signals and hi-beams work fine. I think it's my switch because sometimes I can get them all to work by finding that sweet spot btw running lights & head lights... but not all the time.

I've called around for parts and I either have to spend $150 on a new part from Honda or for an entire steering column from a salvage yard...

Any tips either how to bypass or get a cheap part - or something else?

Do you mean a separate option of fog lights? If so, then no...

The thing when I bought my EG it came with the fog lights conected to my fuse box. I started having the same problem your having.I disconected the fogs and I was like that for a week, I wouldn't drive the car at night, this past weekend I tried to fix it. I reconected the cables to the fuse box and all my lights would work when I turn on the switch. Last night I was driving the car and when I would stop and trun everything off, when I get back in and turn on the lights to leave, the same problem happened, I would play with the switch until the lights would turn on normal. To my conclusion it has to be the switch that is bad. I just didn't want to go and spend money on a switch and that not be the problem.
Hope this helps, Im going to check it again this weekend, BTW all my fuses are good. Try checking yours.

Good tip - Yeah I checked mine and all good too. There is a single fuse that is for the exact lights that won't work. I really thought all I had to do was replace it. But it didn't look bad. I switched it with another just in case - still same thing.

Luckily it's getting light for longer each day

The Honda parts guy say that as these things get older they just quit making the parts and the price tends to creep up. Not sure how true that is. I really don't want to spend $150 on a new part when it seems like I could go to a salvage yard and yank one out very easily - but I guess they want to sell the entire column.

I may have to put a bunch of toggle switches for everything - look like a damn airplane cockpit

No, I've just gotten better about finding that sweet spot and have limped along. But I should find a better solution. I was going to search around as well to see about a cheaper part. If I find one, I'll post up.
