Can someone please tell me the simptoms of a busted piston ring?

 

blowing smoke do a compression test and a leak down test it will tell you.

Low compression. May smoke or use oil. Why do you ask?

 

What about burning oil? My car is burning oil.

if your car is burning oil and it is smoking your ring are done, also could be a bad valve seat ,are you turbo are nitrous those are a good stock motor destroyers

 

you will feel power loss....compression test is key to telling if there are blown rings...usually a white smoke will come out too....but dont just rely on the smoke....it could be from valve seals, headgasket...lots of stuff, so do a compression test, it takes 5 minutes and it will tell you....depending on what compression your running you will be able to tell if you have a blown cylander...
