need help turboing my R
i know this is prob. been asked 1000 times but, i am consitering buying a turbo kit for my 2000 itr with 15k on it. i have no major mods. but am getting a new cluch because i drive th car pretty hard. i am wondering what i need to do(parts and upkeep)to run boost safely in my car. whatever it takes i will do, and i also need to know EVERY part that i will need, only 5 pounds for right now till i get more money to build the motor up. it is not for sure still considering all motor butcant get the power i want.
thanks guys.
thanks guys.
so what the hell is the question?
oh i see it. depends on your application entirely. for 5 psi, not much asides upgrading your pistons when the stock ones start causing blowby with the seals.

You can run 7 psi, if you address the fuel/spark issues correctly and make some very sweet power on your stock motor. Shitty cast ITR pistons will crack at the ring lands after about 300 whp, so look out for that. You can safely tune the car to 250 whp.
I would get stuff like this:
Walbro 255 lph pump
RC 440 cc injectors
Rev hard cast manifold
T3/T4
Spearco FMIC
Drag piping for LS
Tial BOV
Tial wastegate
APEXi N1 cat-back
Clutchmasters stage IV & flywheel
etc. etc.

just a suggestion....DONT DO IT UNLESS YOU ARE GOING TO DO IT RIGHT, THE FIRST TIME. If you say "oh I will just build up the bottom end later" then you are gonna run into a world of problems. If you end up needing a new ITR bottom end, you are gonna have to wait something like 6 months. Dont wait, DO IT NOW. Yeah you might be able to run the turbo for awhile on the stock motor, but it will take its toll. If you really wanna do it right and make big power, get a 2L bottom end, sleeve it, rods, new lower compression pistons and turn up the boost. But IMO, getting lower compression pistons defeats the purpose of having an ITR( so does turbo'ing it ). Consider yourself forwarned. Whatever you choose, good luck and make sure you TUNE IT on a wideband dyno.
