Default civic LX timing adjusting Issues

hi HT,

i've done everything i can to make my car have better MPG but still it does 180Miles per full tank.

today i got new sparkplugs NGK ZFR6F-11 cuz i used to have something else, i dont remember the code but it was like BKR***, new plugs wires too from a d15b vtec.

i think my timing is wrong, how do i check my timing without a timing gun?!

we dont have it here (****ing middle east), they just play with the dizzy a bit and try the car on and on, how can i adjust the dizzy to its original place so i can have the best performance (d16y7 yeah right) and gas millage (gas millage is what i prefer to performance)?!!!

I think the stock timing is at the middle of the dizzy.

You must have a timing gun to set the ignition timing.

You should also replace the distributor cap and rotor.

you have to have a timing light to properly adjust the timing.

you also have to jump the service connector so that the ECU wont try to adjust it for you.

the safest way i think is to set the dizzy at about center.

then get a timing light and do it the correct way.

you can get a craftsman for pretty cheap at sears, ive seen them for 30-50 bucks

in USA or not, you still need a timing light to do it properly.

You can purchase an inexpensive inductive timing gun through Amazon.

Using a timing gun is one of the easier tasks done on your Civic. If you have any questions not covered in the timing gun manual or by the diagram below, just post your question in this thread.
