got a EH2 with a b18b1 LS motor. everytime i turn the key in the ignition to turn it on. it won't start, the starter doesn't click or anything. but if i take a wire and touch the positive termimal on the battery to the Starter Solenoid, it starts right up. Can anyone shine some light on where this culprit might be occuring?

if it was my starter, don't you think it would have not started when the shocked the starter solenoid? why don't i hear the click when i turn on the ignition than?

 

no it can still be the starter

 

Check for a bad starter switch at the top of the clutch pedal.

 

Or your starter solenoid is bad. Or maybe you just need to ground your engine and tranny.

 

I just went through this issue myself.

first check your drivers side harness plugs on the shock tower, there is a 2 pin plug both heavy wires check the black with a white stripe for power when you try to start (key in the start position). If no power exists check the blue/white wire at the main relay. If you have power there you most likely have a bad main relay, if not check the 7.5 amp fuse labeled starter signal. If no power there check to be sure your clutch safety switch is working properly. Finally if nothing else works try swapping a known working ECU. otherwise you may have a bad ignition.


oh ya if you have power at the drivers shock tower crimp your female blade connector tighter thats all my problem was......... :smackshead:

 

i don't have a voltmeter but i checked the 7.5 starter signal fuse and it's fine. one thing i left out was that recently, my car has been making a non stop clicking sound by the fuse box. even with the car off and if i move the steering wheel, it clicks. i'm guessing my main relay is gone bad? would that be the cause of my car not starting when i turn on the ignition?

Yes, i just got a chance to look in there today and found out it was the rubber piece that presses against the Clutch Safety Switch. it came off and found it broken into 6 little pieces. i also noticed that the rubber piece that presses against the switch on the brake pedal is about to brake as well. i def have to replace the clutch one and minus well do the brake on too. Does anyone know where i can purchase the rubber pieces or what they're called?
