Hi i juz got into hondas and i bought a 98 ex with a d16y7 wen it comes with a stock d16y8..... I wanna make this ex fast just wanted some info on how to start my project in the right direction without spending so much????

 

The D16Y7 motor is a non-VTEC motor built strictly for fuel efficiency. Even if you decided to put an intake/header/exhaust setup, you'd spend roughly $1000 for less than 10 hp. You should really just save up your money and swap in a B16/B18 if you really want to go fast.

If you're on a budget, try to get your stock motor swapped back in. You'd then have something a little better that you can boost to make faster.

 

if ur hearts set on keeping the y7 first thing id do is swap a y8 or z6 head on to give you vtec.
