S300 usdm P30 Base map need help
ok I went to state ref with a b16a2 converted to obd1 and im trying to pass ref.
I have s300 in a p28 case and he passed it because it said 1.6L vtec.
anyways I have a used cat but papers showing its less than 6 months old. I passed emissions but had just above the limit of unburnt fuel so he said I needed a valve adjustment.
my question- is there anyway to lean it out just like a hair for the test so it will help me pass smog? once I pass smog he will BAR it and I will be through with bein hassled by the cops for having a motor swap.
will leaning it out such a minimal amount help me or hurt me when it comes to smog? or will it hurt the motor?
can anyone tell me how to do it in s300 manager? thanks guys

yeah go into you idle area while datalogging and drop about 5 percent out.
not gonna hurt the motor, im assuming youreon stock injectors as you are getting smog'd
do you have a wideband in the car?

Smog testing is usually done on a roller at partial throttle.
You would need to lean out the whole tune, try adjusting your over all fuel trim to a negative value such as -4 or -8. I would recommend using a wideband oxygen sensor while doing this. Target 15.2:1 at very light throttle just for the inspection testing.
Good Luck

ok... if you make basemap adjustment on a closed loop tune you are not really changing anything. The best way to make a smog friendly basemap is to get the afr close to 14.5 in open loop.. then enable closed loop. then set the idle portion of the timing map to 16*BTDC. set the rest of the timing cells above 1000rpm to 5*. This way you are in closed loop with the base timing still properly set and all of the timing advance above 1000 rpm is gone. Any honda motor not equipped with an egr and with any cams that aren't rediculously big will pass smog with a map like this (I have tuned a motor with 12.5:1 compression and skunk2pro2 cams with this method and it passed on the first try). If the car still does not pass then you either have a bad o2 sensor or catalytic converter.
Good luck.
Good luck.
