Default the time has finally come.....

ok... finally im swapping my piece of **** d16. i took the hatch to get smogged the other day and guess what? haha the **** didnt pass, well actually it was because my catalytic is all clogged, but im swapping the **** anyways. im just going with a b16 but i was wondering: 1.) if i where to get a JDM b16 would it pass smog? because i was told that it wouldnt pass, but i was iffy on that one. 2.) if it will pass smog, what do i have to do to pass? (i live in CA) and finally....3.) what are some legit shops in CA that have pretty good prices for a complete engine? hope you guys can help me on this one.....

Default Re: the time has finally come..... (crxss outhe eyes)

search for "BAR" or "ref smog". when you swap your car in cali, it needs to be inspected and certified by a Bureau of Automotive Repair smog referee. they make sure that you car has all the usdm smog equipment on it, as well as the usdm ecu. in addition to a visual inspection, you need to pass the tailpipe test. jdm motors will pass if they're in good condition, but jdm vtec motors have problems passing if they're older and neglected. carbon build-up and high compression tends to bump up the NOx emissions really high.
