Default what HG to get?

Hey ppl,
I have a 94 hb witha b18c swap. Im deciding what Headgasket to get and what size. I want to boost into. It basicly a stock gsr with bolt ons. im planing to Build the head while i do the HG.( like Supertech valves, springs and retainers. I was thinkin of gettin cometic or something. Anyone know where to find some HG for good prices and valve train parts?

Cometic or OEM

valvetrain parts, you should check with your local tuning shops, if not, check out the HT Sponsors section to get an idea. valvetrain isn't cheap though....

If you're not doing any piston/rod changes, I think many of the FI guys would suggest getting a HG thicker than stock. Although the changes would be minimal, it will help bring your compression down a bit for your turbo setup.

cometic makes a .51 thickness gasket, if your not gettting bigger cams dont get springs and retainers youll waste money. ebay has good deals on springs and retainers though. supertech for super cheap. dont get cromoly or aluminum retainers.

Are you keeping the bottom end stock? How much power would you like to make?

Cometic has a range of OEM thickness to .053" or more depending on your application. However, you wouldn't want to go any thicker than that. OEM is .035" I believe.

If it were me, I would skip the valvetrain and spend the money on quality turbo components and a very good tune. It sounds to me like your power goals are not unreasonable for a stock block/head with stock head gasket. You should do some research in the forced induction forum (there is alot of good info in there) where I think you will find that a stock motor with a good tune will make good reliable power. here are a few threads that will get you started and might interest you

I didn't spend much time finding these, they were on the first page. Dig deeper and you will find lots of useful info.
Oh and if you want you could always build another, big boost motor on the side and when you get bored with the stock one swap it in.

i want do my head because i did a compression test not too long ago and it read like 50-90-140-150is. i did an valve lash adjustment and it started tappin like 3 weeks after. so im guessin that my valves are bent or something. No burning oil at all. no smoke out the exhaust. ect. i was thinkin of that but its cost $$$ and i need to finsh my h series ek...( been sittin for a while. Im broke.. thinkin of sellin it.
