Default Valve springs and retainers, do I need them for the turbo rebuild?

My friend recommends that I get new valve springs and retainers (preferably Crower ones that supplement my 402 cams, I have stock now). My head, block, and crank are already out and being machined as we speak.

I've already spent so much money on other parts: turbo, pistons, rods, LSD, injectors, etc, that anything extra is gonna kill me. Do I really need these? Can I just get away with valve springs, and NOT retainers?

Thanks guys. And yes, this Integra is gonna be rockin the Random Slip LSD...heehee. This is the kinda of budget I'm workin with here!

If you arent going to rev it high, then stock retainers are fine.
Springs depends on the lift of the cams.

do your headwork later...stock heads can handle alot of power STOCK!
Later on, just send it to portflow for a nice P&P and add some of their valvesprings and retainers.

JG has a special on retainers, like $60 - 90, they are aerospace aluminum and a couplke fast guys run them well over 11000rpm. they are also lighter than Titanium and wont gaul like Ti

The Crower 402turbo cam makes power to 8000 rpm on the LS, but you dont need to rev them that high. They suggest you run the valve springs and retainers with these cams in order to rev it higher. I would do it just for peice of mind... And if you do decide to do the valvetrain i would stick with Crower.

I would also like to add that, I asked this question partly cuz I also have 118K miles on the head. Do you think it is still safe to stay with stock for now? I won't be revving beyond the rev limit.
