Default Honeymoon with my EM1 over. P1457 came up

On the way to the shop this weekend to see how much its going to cost depending on whats causing the code. I know it could be a number of things including the loose gas cap but that isnt it. How much have you guys spent repairing your p1457 codes?

A very common late 90's code, P1457 is a failure in one of the evap system solenoid valves. There are 2 culprits, the Vent Control Valve & the 2 Way Bypass Valve. They are located under the vehicle, roughly below the left rear seat area. They short out due to corrosion/contamination from water seeping into the valves. I changed both, but the real culprit seems to be the 2 Way bypass Valve.

Its the first time i see it since I own the car, supposively if you neglect it, it can affect the ecu, I don't think its at that point, but ill have to wait and see what the mechanic says.

First off, do your best to not overfill the tank. Mine throws this code 100% of the time that I overfill it. I chased this problem for 2 years and replaced almost everything in the EVAP system, and will still throwing the code. I followed the helm's flochart, and everything checked out as good.

Instead, try this: run the pump up to almost full (like 9 gallons), then run it the rest of the way on the lowest setting. This way, you make sure that the pump cuts off in time. Once I started doing this, I have never gotten the P1457 again.

If that works, problem solved. If not, start with gascap.

Run the gas pump on the lowest setting. Stop when it clicks the first time, and don't top it off after that. See if your code comes back.

That 100% fixed the same code on mine.
