does the car crank over? check your spark plug wires and try jumpstarting it

if your car was running shitty that would lead me to check all spark components and fuel filter. can you hear your fuel pump priming up when you turn the ignition on?

Similar thing happened to me, and the problem turned out to be a burnt out distributor.. the gasket failed and oil got in to the dizzy and fried the coil.. so, take off your dizzy cap and make sure no signs of oil are present..
