conversions not worth chopping your firewall out so you can drive on the other side of the road.

you need a you need your current title to be transfered to a modified vehicle title, to do so you need to have it inspected to make sure its safe etc. then every so often you have to have it inspected to make sure its still safe.

thats if you do it legaly.

to be honest with you, it a lot of hassle to import a car that is RHD from the factory. not saying it cannot be done but youll need to do your research. i know that guys here in VA that buy japanese cars will take the vin off of a totaled car and use it as their vin. (very shady) and to me, cutting your firewall reduces your safety and that's def. not something you want to do just to sit on the other side of the car. but good luck in w.e. you do and remember if you do it right the first time 9 times out of 10 you wont need to do it again.

I know the owner of a shop that can get them for you.

JSHmotors.com owners name is carlos.

I bought a complete eg6 front clip off him.

as for people who can do the conversion. one of my friends own right hand performance here in bakersfield. I also know a shop in Delano that does all custom work.

both people cost the same both do quality work.

I actually got done stripping my clip last night and am taking it to delano tonight to have the firewall pulled

as for legality.

my friend has never been pulled over because his car looks factory except for the rhd and mugen rims. but he has asked many cops if they would pull him over for his conversion and they said no they like seeing something different.

I on the other hand wanna do it legally. so I talked to an investigator with chp and they said all you need is a safety light and brake inspection, then they will determine what vins to give you as your title will be registered as a special build.

What shops do RHD Conversions? My friend is looking to do it on his DC and im looking to do it on my EK, we are located in Southern NM and are willing to travel to California as well as Arizona! I saw the posting of that one cat in fountain valley, but someone else is claiming he is doing bad business! How much do a shop normally charge?

My friend converted his car to a rhd . its a 95 integra. Since he had conflicting vin #'s on the firewall and door jam he had to take his old firewall the resiept for the new firewall and after the car was all put back together he was sent to The california highway patrol for a vin verification. they gave him a little plaque for the door jam. the officer actually riveted the new vin tag to the door jam and firewall. it is 100% street legal and done very nice. If you puchase a real rhd car make sure its older then 10 years for easy registration. anything newer then 10 years is gonna be very hard to do. Something about its age matters.

I didnt have time to take a ton of pictures and document every little thing. after all we did do the entire swap in a weekend.

I dropped the car off at my dads work in delano thursday. then friday after work I drove out there and spent about 6 hours on it
then saturday spent another 12 hours and about 4 hours sunday to finish welding

im waiting to get more seam sealer right now then its finished

thanks man. I called the dmv again to set up an appointment to go down there and they said there was no need.

their exact words "they dont care what side of the car you drive on as long as it is up to date on registration and passes emissions"

I asked about the fire wall vin being tampered with and they said. drive to the chp station and let them inspect it, bring in the old fire wall and they will issue new vins

I paid 400 for a complete eg6 clip from jshmotors.com they are local here in bako so I had to pay no shipping. I also have both the under dash and engine bar rhd harness so everything is pretty much plug and play. except for the blinker situation which I will handle when the time comes. for now im putting my interior back in

well i would like to know how it was possible for him to get whatever it was from the CHP...i have asked and asked what the legalites of doing a rhd conversion....and everyone of them has told me it was straight up ILLEGAL...i just dont understand why it is deemed illegal...so far i have yet to see any type of vechicle code or stature in California that states it it totally illegal for this conversion to be done....its basically junkyard parts that are being used....i mean you can buy a whole car in pieces from the junkyards and piece them back together and get it registered or whatever and its totally legal....what is the difference...can someone answer this????

has anyone in california gotten their rhd conversion legalized since the swap?? what vin were kept in the process?? for example a 1990-93 acura integra has 3 vin locations (door, firewall, and dashboard) when the conversion is done you technically dont have the firewall or dash vin unless you cut around the vin on the firewall....so how is it that the CHP issues whatever plate they issuse...I have spoken to 2 different CHP officers and 2 different locations and they tell me it totally illegal to do the conversion...please anyone respond to this question or comment!!!!!!!1
