Default Car is overheating!! Help.

I have a friend who has a b18c swap in his eg hatch. The car recently ran hot and ever since that day it keeps running hot when he is normal driving. The car is not leaking coolant, but it is using alot. When he accelerates it hesitates as if it is skipping and then clears up and goes, but not at its full potential power. It has a little skip at idle. The water pump and thermo are new. Why is it over heating?

I believe it is the head gasket, but many of his other friends have been telling him that it can't be the gasket and that it is something else. What do yall think?

if not leaking any coolant... head gasket most likely culprit for burning coolant. He needs to get on it a bit and see if he can smell the sweet smell of coolant burning.
try to bleed his coolant and top it off, then take it back out and check levels

head gasket might be the problem. How hot did it get and for how long? What made it overheat initially? Typically though if you have no external leaks and the vehicle is "using" coolant then it is being burned in the cylinders. Run the car for a while then pull all 4 spark plugs out right after you shut it off. You might smell the coolant coming out of one of the cylinders or might even see it if it is bad enough.

My guess of it running hot the first time was because it was burning the coolant and it ran low on coolant then ran hot.

Well until the original run hot problem has been addressed it will happen again. Even if the headgasket is blown now the original problem has not been resolved. A good idea would be to have the cooling system pressure tested for leaks.

We did a pressure test and it was not leaking.
