Default 96 Civic Alpine 9811 Removal

I supposed I don't expect much due to the head unit being so old but here goes.

As the title states I have an Alpine CDA-9811 (which came with the car) and I am adding some components to the car and need to access the RCAs on the rear of the unit.

All panels of the interior are already removed, that's the easy part.

The plastic frame in the front has been removed to gain access to the spring loaded locking screws, one on each side.

The users manual from alpine, found on the internet, says nothing about using keys (flat metal pieces used to depress tabs on most stereos); however, I haven't working any other than this Alpine that has the front locking screws.

So, I was wondering if I need to get a hold of some keys in addition to the locking screws or if I should just push harder on the back and it should come out.

Note: I don't have the keys, not sure if Alpine used them for that series due to the locking screws, and if they are needed I either need an alternative or know that I can buy them. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I think you will probably need the keys or if you can get something skinny and sturdy enough in there it should do it

The Alpine CDA-9811 does not use "keys", if it is mounted in it's cage it is held in place with a "lock pin" on each side of HU, any pointy instrument can be used to release the pins, pins must be lifted up only half way, if you have the manual you will find the info on page 35... http://www.fixya.com/support/p198860...l-2100/page-37

Keep in mind, if HU was installed properly there will be a rear support brace off the back of the HU to the stock rear support brace in your Civic. 94

That's what I was thinking and I'm going to check it out today, thanks.

Update: Turns out I just wasn't pushing hard enough and it was hung up on a screw. All cables hooked up and now I wait for more parts
