shitty gas milage on an HF?
What could be going on i would put 5 bucks in and it would give me almost half a tank (it leaks only when pumping due to the hose leading to the tank), but i put 5 bucks in and in one day its gone?....wtf, i put 5 bucks in my vx and it would last 4-5 days, whats going on with my MPG?!?!, and im not driving it hard either
Do you think it could be the aftermarket parts?, could it be leaking gas as im driving and turning?, i put i used tank in it cause my old one was cracked at the seem and leaking, and this one holds the gas it just leaks only when i pump the gas as far as i know

does it smell like gas anytime you're in or near your car or only immediately after filling up.? If it always smells like gas the tank is probably leaking. Also, when you put gas in, does the gas gauge actually go up? If so, you're probably leaking fuel. Get under there and look for leaks around the tank. Also follow the fuel line up to the fuel rail and look for leaks. I've seen the rubber line between the filter and the fuel rail get chewed through by rodents.
it smells like gas every once in a while when real low on gas, the gauge does go up and works fine, i had a leak on the fuel filter but it was just loose so thats fixed
you aren't calculating your mpg's correctly. if it were right, by your explanation i have a car that has a half tank of gas in it sitting in my back yard for 2.5 years and its still at half a tank, getting good mpg's in that.
fill gas tank up till the pump clicks, record mileage. drive around 150-250 miles, fill tank back up till the pump clicks. previous mileage divided by current mileage, then divide that number by how many gallons you put in your car, thats how you calculate mpg's properly. and you can't rely on your gas "guide" to tell you how much gas you have.
why don't you fix the leak that you are getting while filling up first?

Also, try to fill up at the same station and if you can pump. I am of the opionion that some pumps or pumps at other gas stations may click off at different fill levels depending on wear ect.
well i drove a bunch today and i went from a half tank to a quarter of a tank, so it did help with the mpg but i dont have the money to be filling my tank all the way right now
As someone mentioned before in this thread, there's almost no indicator of MPG using your fuel gauge. Hope you fixed it though.
