Default engine issues

what would make my engine sound like it has a miss, yet has a brand new set of plugs in it, and makes my plugs look like this,

cap and rotor looks decent, engine has been running good. had a set of 310cc injectors in it, but replaced them w/ obd1's cuz it was fouling out plugs so bad, running of stock pr3. engine is b20vtec, basically running of stock setup right now, trying to get to running smooth before i do obd1 conversion.

no it's soot. I can brush/blow it off the plug, and it almost looks new. I'm not throwing any codes except the vtec solenoid, cuz I haven't wired it in yet. maybe the injector's are no good? they all gave the same reading on an ohmmeter when I tested them, and when I put a screwdriver against them when running they are clicking like normal.

soot usually means, from what i've experienced and have seen myself, that something is arcing. maybe you have a bad wire? or all of them? i've replaced my wires with brand new ones, and had to re-replace them because one of them had a pin hole right near the boot. i say check that out.

oh yeah, arcing will cause your plugs to foul way faster aslo.

would a throttle body gasket leak have this effect? i can hear it sucking air between the tb and intake. maybe it's throwing the air/fuel ratio off? gonna replace the gasket and see.

Might want to source a chipped eCU and tune it? I can't imagine the ECU understands how to adjust fuel when you swap out injectors.

maybe, but i still think that arcing would have something to do with that. a leaky gasket on the tb won't really effect how the plug fires, not that drastically anyway. i say buy new plug wires, and try that. and if you can't afford a tuned ecu, at least get a base map set.
