Adjusting clutch throw (to get rid of noise) - let's make this the "how to".....
Local buddy gets a scraping/ grinding noise when pushing his clutch pedal in...
This has been the case ever since the install of the new jdm clutch and flywheel.
The clutch works and operates normally, but the engagement is at the point when the clutch is almost all the way out - so it only takes maybe 1-2 inches of pushing the pedal in to engage/ disengage... the rest of the pushing on the pedal (like all the way to the floor) just makes noise...
Now exedy had a bulletin - but it sounded like they were having trouble with engagement or disengagement... that isn't the case here - but is the instruction for getting the noise to go away the same?
Here's some pics to help us make this a "how-to" and identify what/ which parts need to be adjusted, and in what manner:

Here's a quote from Willard on the subject:

Here's a quote from Willard on the subject:
the adjustment is on the rod that goes toward the firewall.
gold color round thing is full of rubber that helps dampen vibrations from the clutch.
2 - 12mm nuts are on the back side of the round gold thing. use a thin headed one close to the roudn thing and use the other wrench to loosen the locking nut.
once the lock is loose twist rod which ever way needed.... the lock nut back..
I did it by feel.... could not fit my hands/arms under there and see.

Excellent! I have been wondering about that, as the engagement point on my clutch/pedal is almost all the way out.
Does this actually get rid of the noise, or just adjust the engagement/disengagement point?

the round 'thing' in the second pic is not in the same location as mine is.
the nut you have to loosen is to the left (along the length of the shaft) of the round things towards the clevis that is hooked on the left end of the shaft.

.....the "round thing" you refer to is denoted by the lower yellow dot in the 2nd pic Will?
I didn't know where to begin on the spell corrections.....

So what is actually being adjusted here? the pedal height/throw or the clutch engagement point or something else?? me confused

when the pedal is on the floor.. the rod that is connected to the pedal will be pushed in a certain distace.... what the adjustment does is shorten the rod so that the release bearing does not push as far and therefore the clutch will not make any noise.

BTW, you'll need a neck like Sid The Sloth to see anything down there

jes.. that round thing is the clutch slave cylinder.
the ITR I adjusted there was another round 'thing' about 2" to the left of that round thing...
it loooks like that car will be easier to adjust.
loosen the nut to the left of the red dot and twist the shaft.

Willard, mine had the same round thing you are talking about. Makes it 10x harder to get a wrench on the bolt. I had to use "The big vise grip" to hold the shaft to break loose that bolt.. what a bitch.. took me about 2 hours and I think I lost 10lb's from sweating
