b16 head question

Default b16 head question

how dependible is the stock valve train on a b16 head with a gsr block n p73 pistons with a redline of 8200 8500 ....whats da probability a valve falling

great just don't use big aftermarket cams on stock valve train and 8200 sounds good it all depends on when you stop making power some guys run like 9000 RPM but they don't make anymore power they make less and wears on your motor alot quicker

thnax alot mann so ill prob b fine if i leave it at 8200 my budget is getting really small so i was hoping not to have to upgrade valvetrain

you upgrade valvetrain according to the cams you're running, not what motor you bolted that head on. If your valvetrain is old and high mileage, it won't matter what cams or motor it's bolted to, it can still drop a valve.

iight thanx das only thing i dnt got money for right now i got the whole bottom end done complete with eagle rods arp rod bolts arp mains acl bearings new oil pump n screen n got the block decked n put goldeneagle head studs but i dnt got money to put on da head right now so ill just rap up da block till i can get some seals ,spring and retainers

i got p73 pistons i got told thoe would b better cuz ctr would make my cr to damn high n i would be undercam

i think ill take da head to a machine shop n get da spring tention checked cuz da head has low miles but idk

yea i fure cuz they can determine weather the springs are still good or not by checking the load or tolenrence i belive
