Default Differences in engine mounts for SOHC VTEC vs Non VTEC.

Long version:
I pulled my engine out of my 4 door Civic LX today and started swapping parts to the D15B I'm dropping in. Here's what I found. The mount that my D15B7 uses will not work for the D15B. The studs and holes are staggered with the D15B7 setup, but the D15B has studs that are closer together, not staggered, and smaller diameter. I thought that I could swap the cast iron mounts on the engine block, but that is not an option. The bolt holes are vertical on one engine, but not on the other and the bolt going through the power steering bracket to the cast iron mount for the motor mount will not line up.

Short version:

Basicly, what people have said about being able to reuse motor mounts for swaps isn't working for me. I got it solved by ordering a mount from Autozone for $24, but this is just to let others know.

Obligatory "standing in engine bay" photo.

My best guess is that you need the mounts for that specific motor. Too bad it didn't come with them. My first (cheap) thought is to weld the holes on your stock motor mount, and drill new ones in the proper orientation.

That's correct. People have said you can reuse mounts though, and I never heard anything about different mounts being used between different D series engines.

I considered drilling new holes, but I'd rather do it right and just buy a new mount. If I was going to keep the car, I may. But, I'm going to sell the car once it's done.

I solved my own problem, I just wanted to say that there are different mounts used and the cast mount bolted to the engine block itself can't be swapped to use your original rubber mount.
