Default How can I tell if this motor is ok

I am looking at a 96 Integra. The motor is a b18c1 the kid says it wasnt smoking or burning any oil before it was damaged.(windows were all totally broke out of it) . The tranny was still in gear and got pulled onto a trailer so it could be towed. So he took out the tranny and tried fixing it. Now I cant see if it starts because the radiator isnt hooked up and something with the clutch that isnt allowing it to be pushed in too start. My question is how can I tell if the motor is still usable or able to be pulled and sold without hearing it start.

its similar to a compression test but more in depth. if it was me i would look else where. how much does he want for it?

agree with everyone else leak down test it and have a mechanic (Honda preferred) give it a look over as well the know the weak points to keep your eyes out for.

Compression/leakdown test would do the job.

It just goes to show everyone on HT will just jump on the band wagon... and not even read the guys actual question for themself.

You cant. The car needs to be able to run to perform a leakdown test.

I went too look at this car, and the windows are busted out of it and it looks like ****. But theres a lot of good parts still left on there. But he told me he pulled the transmission to fix it but he didnt put it back in correctly because the clutch wont engage too start it

I would do a compression test on it. You can still do it just spin the crank pulley. If the test was good I would buy it. JMO
