Default Help me turbo my D15 EG civic coupe

Its a DX, no power steering.

This is my daily driver, so i'd like to keep fuel economy high and i'd be perfectly happy with like 180whp

I'd like to keep the A/C and i'd like to keep my budget around $700 for parts (not including software/tune). I will probably go the route of buying used or junkyard parts.

I'd like to know my options.

Currently this heap is running great, 160psi across all four.

Thanks!

d15b?? or d15b7/8??

makes a difference

look into a small t3 (saab's have garretts which can be had for cheap) or look around for a 14b...

manifolds are a bit pricey.. look into an hf/std manifold to keep cost down... if you stay with an internally gated turbo, that'll help keep cost down too...

look around to see what other people are running... that's the best way to check it out... also, check in the marketplace.. sometimes you can get some sweet deals!

there are some differing opinions... the overall consensus seems to be it depends how you set it up... but it is tight apparently...

you can always go custom mani, but there goes your budget

keep your eye on the marketplace... that's your best best..

You'd probably want to get a CDM cast log manifold, a used volvo/saab 50trim T3 turbo, then use a CDM WG/piping/fmic. The downpipe would be the I'd suggest you get made up custom, since most CDM DP's barely fit with anything. I wouldn't recommend the CDM turbo for a daily driver, you'll have better luck with most 20yr old Garretts. For less than an ebay turbo, you can find an old Garrett/AiResearch with minimal shaftplay that will last >10k miles.

The main problem is the stock d15b7 making and holding 180whp for a while. Unless you have a backup car, I'd limit it to 150whp max daily. The extra mid-range torque the turbo makes will make 150whp with the dx trans as fast as a stock b16. If you get it dyno tuned, you could probably use more power, but that wouldn't be as cost-effective as just getting a stock Z6. My friend spent under $800 for his CDM kit, and it smoked my b16a3.

what kit did your friend get? does he also have a d15? 150whp is fine with me, i dont want to squeeze out 150whp out of a b16 and have it be annoyingly loud...i plan on using a stock cat back
