Default Car seems to have excessive lag, help me out please!

So last night i got pulled by a 1.8t gti, he is stage 2 but whatever, the fact is when i shifted into 3rd i lost alot of boost and he put like 2 cars on me right their, i am not happy. so im going to list what parts i have and hopefully some of you guys will be able to help me out. also i am only hitting my 12psi by redline right now and boost just gradually builds till redline.

d16y7 stock internally
garrett t28 turbo http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob...R_707160_9.htm (those are the specs)
2.5in charge piping
ebay manifold (i know...)
turboxs boost controller
hks ssqv bov
small fmic
apexi safc (correction set to 0 right now)
po6 chipped ecu, with very aggresive basemap

my buddy just got his gt30 tuned, and it seems like his turbo is so much more responsive after the real tune. i dont know if this is the same issue with my car, but ive seen people run the afc hack without a modded ecu and thats their only tune do they spool slow?

your thoughts please...

Your buddy has set a good example for you. Even with the hack and a basemap, you're running Very conservatively rich, which is why the car isn't responding. Time to get it tuned..I know it sounds simple, but that's really the issue. No bumping needed.

Yeah there are no leaks I hooked it up to a pressure machine it is fine. Could I possibly lean out the mixture on the AFC. The money is kind of tight right now

if money is tight than deal with the slow spool, would you rather lean it out yourself and blow it up (cost more money) or save and pay for a real tune?

not to mention that his turbo is a good size for his motor compared to a gt28 on a d16

well if its a 2.0L than it will be significantly quicker spooling, you would need like a 15g to get spool like that on a d series

even a street tune will help alot
