nood. launch control

Default nood. launch control

i just got a 1993 del sol. and i believe that it just the launch control on it. it will rev up to 3500s and it wont go any futher. i replaced the ecu with a stock one on. but it still does the same thing. does anyone have any guestions.

So it limits at 3500 even when driving regularly? Sounds like the car is in limp mode.

I'm guessing you have a Check engine light, correct?

sorry i meant to say that in nuteral, but when you drive it it runs ok. and no engine light at all.

im really hoping it doesnt. well let me ask you this. could this all be in the dizzy? the whole running like crap and only rev up to 3500 in nuteral?

take it to autozone and borrow their codereader. That will tell you real quick if someone pulled the CEL bulb, and whether you're actually throwing a code.

If the problem is staying with you after swapping ECUs, I *seriously* doubt it has to do with a launch control, as those are usually put into the ECU. It does sound very much like you're in limp mode.

How high will it rev when it's not in neutral?

im not sure i didnt drive it much yesterday, cause i had to get ready for work. im not gonna lie it run a lil crappy so you might be right about it beening limp. so how would i go about finding out if it is limp?

Go to Autozone/Discout Auto or whatever your local car place is and get them to read the CEL. They will tell you if there is one, that's the first thing you gotta do man!

Either that, or put a bulb in the CEL spot and do the paperclip procedure to get the code (instructions for that are a sticky at the top of the forum).
