Default Widebands? Where do you run them?

Installing my aem wideband, I'm curious where you guys run them. From inside the cab to underneath the car?

transmission tunnel looks like there would be space, either that or through the footwell area> behind the dash > to your gauges would work too

but atm no gauges at all, my interior looks stock just the way i like it

There are grommets on both sides of the engine bay on the firewall where you can pass wires through. If you are turbocharged, I would recommend installing the wideband sensor a couple of feet down stream from the turbo.

i thought you wanted it like less than 12" down from where the downpipe starts for the wideband and off of the hottest runner on the mani for the EGT (don't remember which cyl for hondas)

Ok, I was curious how to get from inside the cab to underneath. Figured their was a grommet.

Straight from my AEM manual

"Mount the O2 sensor in the exhaust system at least 18" downstream from the exhaust port. If you anticipate high EGT's, run a turbocharger, run at high RPM for extended periods of time or plan on running leaded race fuel then you MUST mount the sensor at least 36" or more downstream of the exhaust port as all of these can cause the sensor to overheat"

haha i'm not sure then, on my prelude motor that i got rid of, the new owner tapped the wideband very close to the manifold, and the EGT on the manifold

That doesn't mean he did it right....haha.

EGT's should be very close to the exhaust ports to be accurate. Widebands are another story.

I ran the wiring across to the passenger side and out the grommet behind the battery. that way the wiring doesn't have to cross the engine bay to get to the sensor. I still have the stock header so I used the primary O2's location. basically you want to measure from a point that has input from all 4 cylinders.

on a turbo setup I would just put the O2 on the downpipe. there's a limit to the temperature that an O2 can handle so you don't want to put it right off the turbo where the temps are the highest. maybe a little closer to the firewall where the temps are down a little.

I ended up running it out the grommet on the drivers side beside the clutch.

Worked out fine.

I am going to put it near the stock location, which is underneath the passenger.
