i have a b16a1 and swapped my tranny from a 91 integ ls and my problem is that my speedometer is not working and my engine light turned on( code 17). My Vtec isn't working either cause i can't hear it at 5300rpm but no engine codes. is it becuase of the tranny or the code17 (Vehicle Speed Sensor) that i forget to put it on. pls help i appreciate it. than ks.

 

Your speedo won't work unless you have the VSS hooked up. What ecu are you using to run the motor?

 

It is because you don't have the VSS hooked up. Vtec runs off of the speed sensor in addition to a couple of other sensors. I have the same problem. I left the VSS unplugged because I need to get the clip to hold the cable into the transmission. I don't have Vtec, I throw a code 17, and my rev limiter cuts in really early. So plug in the VSS and you should be fine.
